The Remo Buffalo Drum is a powerful instrument rooted in the drumming traditions of the Indigenous peoples of the Americas and carries deep cultural significance. Remo honours this heritage by combining traditional form with modern materials.

Crafted with Remo’s patented Acousticon® shell, this drum is made from 100% recycled wood fiber, offering the resonant warmth of natural wood while being far more weather-resistant. The Buffalo Drum also features a Fiberskyn® synthetic drumhead, which is pre-tuned for consistent tone.

The Buffalo Drum is lightweight and easy to carry, with a comfortable rope handle for handheld play. Whether you’re leading a drum circle or performing, this instrument responds beautifully to both hand strikes and mallet use – producing powerful low vibrations with excellent projection and tonal clarity.

How do I play my Buffalo Drum?

You can play the Buffalo Drum with your hands or the included soft mallet. Hold it by the rope handle and strike the drumhead in the centre or near the edges to explore a range of deep, resonant tones. It’s suitable for seated or standing play and adapts well to sound healing, meditation, and live music settings.
 

What is special about the Acousticon® shell?

The Buffalo Drum’s shell is made with Remo’s patented Acousticon® shell, a high-performance material crafted from 100% recycled wood fibers. Unlike traditional wood, it’s resistant to moisture and temperature changes. It captures the warm, resonant qualities of wood while offering enhanced projection and strength.
 

What is the difference between Fiberskyn® and traditional drumheads?

Traditional drums often used animal hides, which produce beautiful tones but are highly sensitive to humidity and temperature changes. Remo’s synthetic Fiberskyn® drumheads are engineered to mimic the warm tone of natural skins while offering superior durability and tuning stability.
