Handcrafted in Benin, Africa, our rain shakers are made from thick, polished hazelnut pods sourced from trees in Ghana and strung together with a sturdy, hand-woven handle.

These natural instruments – also called African seed pod shakers – belong to the idiophone family. Their sound is created by shaking or rustling the instrument, allowing the seed pods to gently strike against each other to produce a soothing, rain-like sound. For a more upbeat tone, you can shake the pods more vigorously – perfect for music-making or percussion circles.
